Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in New York is seeking an Assistant Program Director for our afterschool program. You will assist the Program Director in developing and managing daily programming for youth, supervise activities, and coordinate with families and schools to support participants.

Responsibilities include crisis-intervention when needed, maintaining attendance records, ensuring safety, and leading program operations in the director’s absence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; associates or higher encouraged.
• Three years’ experience in youth program supervision and/or administration.
• Experience in program development for youth.
• Crisis-intervention ability and leadership of group activities.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; team player.
• Commitment to strength-based and youth development approaches.
• Ability to work occasional weekends/late evenings; pass clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist Program Director in overseeing daily operation of the program.
• Attend all staff meetings and required professional development.
• Assist with design and implementation of programming and scheduling.
• In the absence of the Program Director, provide leadership and administration.
• Track and input student records and attendance in program databases.
• Foster an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility.
• Coordinate and plan program activities and culminating events.
• Schedule and participate in parent involvement activities.
• Network with community organizations to provide services and information.
• Conduct outreach for participants to enroll in programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
