Job summary

Harris County Department of Education is seeking an Afterschool Program Specialist in Houston, TX. This part-time role coordinates and implements activities for the CC LC Texas ACE grant, ensuring students have educational and enrichment opportunities outside regular hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Coordinate and implement activities for the division’s Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Communities Learning Center (CCLC) Texas ACE grant at designated campus. Assure that students received educational and enrichment opportunities outside school hours, including before and after school, weekends, and summers.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or GED required

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to provide a positive environment for students
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Excellent organizational skills required
• Ability to be flexible in assignments and work hours may vary on occasion for special events
• Ability to provide exemplary customer service
• Candidates must be flexible, motivated, creative and willing to learn new skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills a plus
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office Programs a plus

Experience

• Experience working with school aged children (4-18) is preferred
