Job summary

East Bay Agency for Children is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator to supervise and coordinate an elementary school based afterschool program in Oakland. The role covers program design, planning, implementation, staff management, student supervision and curriculum development.

The position reports to the Program Director of Afterschool Services and requires collaboration with families, school staff and district partners to ensure safe, engaging programming that supports diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the human service field (education, social services, or mental health) preferred.
• Experience with school-based programs, especially those with diverse, multi-lingual populations.
• TK/K experience preferred.
• Demonstrated capacity to work as a team player and colleague; excellent interpersonal skills; and ability to listen and respond effectively.
• Ability to manage teams, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Awareness and sensitivity to multicultural issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of afterschool program including program planning, program safety, coordination of student behavior and incentive programs and coordination of program events.
• Responsible for student recruitment, enrollment and attendance.
• Responsible for student safety and managing facility during program hours.
• Supervise and coach afterschool program staff, interns and/or contractors.
• Manage partnerships with stakeholders, including families, through regular communication and meetings.
• Ensure program is working in partnership with school site and district.
• Facilitate and/or coordinate staff meetings, professional development, and team building.
• Assist with fee collection and fundraising as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
