Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for the 3:15pm–6:00pm after‑school program at Lessenger Elementary. The role supports the Lamphere Learning Ladder curriculum, assists with meals, and helps supervise children in a safe, caring environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid certification, reliable transportation, and a commitment to staff development and positive role modeling for children and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Demonstrated aptitude for the nature of work to be performed.
• Willingness to participate in staff development.
• Current CPR certification in Standard First Aid.
• Must pass a fitness for duty physical.
• Must submit to Michigan childcare background checks.
• Be a positive role model to children and caregiving staff.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs. and assist children.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Implement classroom/playground activities per curriculum and lesson plans.
• Appropriately supervise children in a safe environment.
• Treat each child with dignity and respect.
• Assist with meals, snacks and cleanup routines.
• Care for equipment and maintain safety.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Establish positive relationships with parents.
• Work cooperatively to maintain a quality childcare program.
• Ensure reliability and punctuality; regular attendance required.
• Adhere to district policies and PA-189 guidelines.
