Job summary

East Side House, founded in 1891, is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the South Bronx. The Group Leader, Afterschool – Morris Park, designs and leads enrichment activities for youth in a safe, engaging environment, including homework help, robotics, sports, and arts.

Responsibilities include creating age-appropriate lesson plans, coordinating with specialists, supervising participants, maintaining attendance and program records, and supporting professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Experience working with elementary schools in diverse urban communities.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, judgment; able to work in a team.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities.
• Collaborate with specialists delivering activities.
• Maintain welcoming learning environment and display participants' work.
• Supervise health and safety of participants.
• Assist enrollment, attendance, and documentation.
• Organize materials and storage; ensure accountability.
• Participate in professional development and supervision.
• Represent East Side House Compass program to participants and community.
