Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Group Leader for the Greenpoint Y Afterschool program. You will supervise school-age children, support learning with tutoring, and help run engaging activities from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, including breaks.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and collaboration with staff, parents, and school partners, with opportunities to develop leadership and interpersonal skills in a caring community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. College credits preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children under 13 in a group setting.
• Knowledge of ages and stages of youth development.
• Current Pediatrics CPR or First Aid certification preferred.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with supervision at all times.
• Collaborate on age-appropriate lesson plans and tutoring sessions.
• Provide daily homework help and enrichment activities.
• Create meaningful activities and events focusing on SEL, fitness, literacy, and leadership.
• Maintain learning environment, prepare lessons and supplies.
