Police Athletic League (PAL) in Harlem, NY seeks a Part Time Group Leader to oversee afterschool activities, including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, and life skills. The role reports to the COMPASS or SONYC Director and supports designated activity staff.

Monday through Friday, 15 hours weekly, starting Sept 7, 2026. The position offers $19.00 per hour, opportunities to foster youth development, and PAL’s comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma / GED; Associates degree preferred.
• At least 18 years old.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a nonprofit youth setting.
• Strong classroom and behavior management skills.
• Good communication and ability to work collaboratively; bilingual preferred (Spanish, French or Chinese).
• Open to learning and growing and integrating SEL and inclusion skills into programming.

Responsibilities

• Foster social, emotional, mental, and physical well‑being in a safe, welcoming environment.
• Support planning and implementation of activities (SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, life skills, literacy, arts, college/career readiness).
• Attend required trainings, meetings, and events; supervise and engage youth during activities.
• Build positive relationships with youths, families, and staff; model professional behavior.
• Provide supportive accommodations for youth with IEPs or medical needs; follow support plans.
• Maintain open communication with caretakers and participate in ongoing staff development.
