Job summary

Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin HS is seeking an Afterschool Enrichment Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on creating a playful, creative, and safe learning environment for children aged 4–12, with weekly classes that foster arts, athletics, and other disciplines.

The teacher will lead engaging sessions, work closely with Afterschool Core teachers and administrators, and ensure smooth communication about students and activities during Wednesday and Thursday

Qualifications

• College degree with background in education and/or athletics preferred.
• Experience in an educational program or setting is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for Afterschool (ages 4–12).
• Develop and lead weekly classes for Afterschool students.
• Coordinate with Afterschool Core teachers and admin about classes and students.
• Classes run Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:15pm to 5:15pm.

Job DescriptionThis Afterschool program at LREI, a historic Progressive Education school located in the West Village, is looking for Enrichment teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. Afterschool at LREI is a celebration of play, creativity and learning. As a division of the school, Afterschool enriches the LREI experience by providing opportunities for students to learn skills and to work and grow together in a safe environment. The Enrichment Program encompasses a variety of specialized classes, which give children the opportunity to focus on various artistic, creative, and physical disciplines over the course of a session, and are geared toward specific age groups. We are looking for teachers who are passionate about their subject-areas as well as creating fun, child-centered learning environments for their students.
