Job summary

Cross Island YMCA is seeking a Content Specialist to curate and manage curricula for COMPASS programs, overseeing implementation and coaching staff to ensure quality outcomes. You will collaborate with the Program Director and school partners to align activities with academic expectations and foster an inclusive, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with children under 13.
• At least one year in a supervisory/oversight role including content management and staff coaching.
• Experience developing education-based curricula and lesson plans.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Select and manage content across all required program areas; create curricula and lesson plans as needed.
• Oversee lesson plan implementation and support staff to ensure effective delivery.
• Coach staff with strategies to improve facilitation, classroom management, and behavior support.
• Review content to align with high‑quality Y Afterschool standards.
• Provide professional development for staff to improve program quality.
• Monitor and evaluate activities to ensure a safe, high‑quality environment for youth.
• Assist participants in improving comprehension and academic skills in designated areas.
• Help students develop study skills and motivation; recognize progress and achievement.
• Collaborate with school staff to align activities with day school expectations.
• Promote inclusive, welcoming environments and support diverse participants.
