Job summary

The YMCA of the North Shore in Salem, MA is seeking a part-time Bus Monitor to supervise the safe transport of students from Salem Public Schools to YMCA programs.

The role runs from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, with duties including boarding assistance, attendance records, bus cleanliness, and incident reporting. The position emphasizes safety, communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
• Ability to enter and exit the bus repeatedly and assist children as needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children on the bus, ensuring safety and positive behavior.
• Assist with boarding and exiting.
• Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports.
• Keep the bus clean and support compliance with YMCA and EEC transportation policies.
• Communicate with staff, families, and school partners as needed.
