Job summary

Kenosha YMCA is seeking an Achievers Teacher to supervise up to 12 participants in grades K-8 afterschool. You will plan and implement engaging reading- and math-focused lessons, guided by Achievers Leadership, using project-based learning.

You will promote safety, positive youth development, maintain records, supervise volunteers, and participate in ongoing professional development to meet program standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience with children under 13.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to supervise and support volunteers.
• First Aid, CPR and AED certificates must be current.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates a program environment that is welcoming and inviting to all.
• Serves as a positive role model and demonstrates positive youth development approaches.
• Ensures the safety and engagement of children in assigned group.
• Plans and facilitates lessons based on best teaching practices using engaging activities focused on themes.
• Provides assistance with classroom work and encourages academic progress.
• Follows program lesson plans and implements activities developmentally appropriately.
• Maintains accurate classroom records and communicates with parents.
• Supervises volunteers and assistant teachers.
