Job summary

Kenosha YMCA in Kenosha, WI is seeking an Achievers Teacher for the afterschool program (part-time). Responsibilities include supervising up to 12 K-8 participants, planning and delivering reading and math activities, and supporting student development in a safe, engaging environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum of two years of prior experience with children under 13.
• Strong group management and problem-solving skills.
• Experience creating interactive/educational activities and youth development.
• Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication.
• Ability to implement daily admin, program, and supervisory responsibilities of afterschool site.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certificates current.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates a welcoming program environment.
• Serves as a positive role model and applies positive youth development approaches.
• Ensures safety and engagement of children in the group.
• Plans and facilitates lessons using engaging activities tied to themes and project-based learning.
• Assists with classroom work and supports academic progress.
• Follows lesson and implementation plans addressing developmental needs.
• Maintains communication with supervisor and parents; participates in family events as designated.
• Supervises volunteers and assistant teachers; maintains records per program requirements.
