Job description

Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten and Preschool is an Early Childhood center serving ages 12 months through 6 years. We have two mixed-age KG classrooms and two Lifeways (Toddler) classrooms. We are situated on a beautiful one+ acre property with chickens, goats, rabbits, organic gardens, and fruit trees. Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten, founded in 1998, is a full member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) and a Lifeways Representative Program, serving approximately 70 children each year.

Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten seeks an Early Childhood Teacher for our toddler Afternoon Rest Program. The program includes lunch, rest, and outdoor play.

Ideal candidates will have Waldorf training and/or background as well as experience supporting young children during rest/nap time, demonstrate patience and consistency, and be skilled at creating a quiet, well-structured classroom environment. They recognize that rest time is an essential part of the school day and approach it with intentionality and professionalism. They are comfortable leading one of the most important, and often most challenging, transitions of the day with calm confidence. This role requires a teacher who takes full ownership of the afternoon classroom and sees rest time as an opportunity to actively guide, support, and strengthen children's self-regulation skills.

Qualified candidates have their Early Childhood Professional Credential (ECPC) Level 2 or higher, per the Colorado Department of Human Services or be in a position to obtain it.

Primary Function: To carry out the classroom duties in accordance with methods and practices as indicated by WECAN and AWSNA and Waldorf Education; to nurture, protect, and guide the children in their development through imitation of domestic, practical, and artistic activities, through love and warmth, rhythm, and free, imaginative play.

Hours: 11:30am - 4:15pm Monday through Friday, with an additional hour on Wednesdays, during the months of September through May, from 4:15 - 5:15pm; This is a year-round program, including nine weeks in the summer.

Primary Functions
  • Bring in children's bedding and lunches from cubbies
  • Wash dishes from morning program
  • Provide breaks for teachers
  • Set up mats and bedding for rest time
  • Join children at table during lunch
  • Read stories and sing songs while children fall asleep and rest
  • Plan each day, carrying out of the classroom program and activities and in the classroom management and supervision of the class
  • Classroom management and day-to-day responsibilities according to the principles of Waldorf Education.
  • Present seasonal songs, stories, and puppetry
  • Maintain general order, cleanliness, and aesthetics in classroom and campus
