Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to support the Inpatient Surgery department at Allen Medical Center. The role involves scrubbing during procedures, preparing sterile instruments, and maintaining aseptic technique for patient safety.

You will handle specimen labeling, assist with draping, and support the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. On-call availability and ongoing competency participation are expected.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required).
• One year of perioperative, operating room, or related military surgical technology experience (preferred).
• Must be certified by CST/NBSTA/TS-C/NCCT (required).
• BLS (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care).

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains sterile field and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Retrieves and labels specimens; reports implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing.
• Prepares surgical skin prep and clipping; inserts urinary catheter as required.
• Participates in orientation of new staff and students as assigned.
