Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; training or experience in child development or early childhood education preferred.
- Work positively and effectively with both adults and children.
- Take initiative in understanding and working with a variety of children with varied interests, abilities, and ages.
- Knowledge of child development and planning developmentally appropriate activities.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.
Job Duties
- Maintains a calm, polite, and professional appearance and demeanor under high-stress situations.
- Demonstrates strong multi-tasking abilities while managing frequent interactions and interruptions.
- Communicates effectively with parents, staff, and visitors, using tact and diplomacy to de-escalate and diffuse tense or stressful situations.
- Manage daily multi-bus routes, arrival and departures and ensure all incoming students are accurately checked in upon arrival.
- Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is a must.
- Create sign-in/out sheets, and maintain records for reference that are approved by the Latchkey Director.
- Print rosters for self and the emergency black box.
- Inform the Director when a sub is needed.
- Create a daily scheduled routine for students.
- Answer office phone calls professionally.
- Follow proper safety procedures (check ID, visitor protocol, security camera system)
- Register students and collect payments for latchkey services on RecDesk
- Communicate with parents via email and latchkey information that has been pre-approved by the Latchkey Director.
- Provide work direction to assigned staff.
- Communicate with the Latchkey Director when supplies are needed.
- Ability to follow the guidelines listed in the staff handbook and State of Michigan licensing rules for childcare centers.
- Actively interact with children, staff members, and parents in a positive manner, with dignity and respect at all times.
- Maintain order through positive group management techniques and strategies.
- Maintain a clean, organized area. Care for materials and equipment properly.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Stay updated on communications via office mailbox, email, and weekly SMORE newsletter.
- Complete all professional development requirements according to deadlines.
- Maintain paperwork and documentation according to licensing requirements.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment while in the District.
- Perform any duties as asked by the Assistant Preschool/Latchkey Director.

- There may be opportunities to work for the Preschool Summer Camp Program.

Salary: $16.19 per hour
