Job summary

The Education Coordinator at the YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood will support the Managing Director of Early Childhood Education and the Education Department in a busy preschool program serving 120+ children aged two to five.

This part-time role focuses on afternoon and Extended Day programming, assisting teachers, children, and families and handling administrative tasks to keep the department running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in related field preferred.
• Two years early childhood education teaching experience preferred.
• New York State Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2 or equivalent) required.
• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Support the Managing Director with the day-to-day needs of the Education Department during afternoon and Extended Day programming.
• Provide support to teachers and staff with classroom needs, questions, and day-to-day program needs.
• Help ensure that Extended Day programming runs smoothly and that children and families have a positive experience.
• Assist with communication with families, including answering questions and sharing information.
• Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
• Support teachers with classroom materials, resources, and curriculum-related needs.
• Assist with maintaining program records, forms, and other educational documentation.
• Support teachers with child observations, assessments, and developmental documentation as needed.
• Assist with program activities, family events, staff meetings, and other Education Department initiatives.
