YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood is seeking a part-time Education Coordinator to assist the Managing Director and Education Department for a preschool program serving 120+ children aged two to five. The role focuses on afternoon/Extended Day programming, supporting teachers, children, and families, with a warm, collaborative approach.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), NYS Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2), and 2+ years of early childhood teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
• Two years early childhood education teaching experience preferred.
• New York State Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2 or equivalent) required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Managing Director with day-to-day needs of the Education Department during afternoon and Extended Day programming.
• Provide support to teachers and staff with classroom needs, questions, and day-to-day program needs.
• Help ensure Extended Day programming runs smoothly and that children and families have a positive experience.
• Assist with communication with families, including answering questions, sharing information, and helping address concerns as needed.
• Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
• Support teachers with classroom materials, resources, and curriculum-related needs.
• Assist with maintaining program records, forms, and other educational documentation.
• Support teachers with child observations, assessments, and developmental documentation as needed.
• Assist with program activities, family events, staff meetings, and other Education Department initiatives.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Education Coordinator will provide part-time support to the Managing Director of Early Childhood Education and the Education Department in the day-to-day needs of a preschool program serving 120+ children ages two through five. Working primarily during afternoon and Extended Day programming, the Education Coordinator will support teachers, children, and families and assist with administrative and program-related tasks that help the department run smoothly. The successful candidate will bring warmth, creativity, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the Managing Director with the day-to-day needs of the Education Department during afternoon and Extended Day programming.
• Provide support to teachers and staff with classroom needs, questions, and day-to-day program needs.
• Help ensure that Extended Day programming runs smoothly and that children and families have a positive experience.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• FLSA Non-Exemp, Part-Time Position.
• Monday - Friday: 3:00 pm – 6:15 pm, with room for flexibility.
• During the 42-week school year.

COMPENSATION:

• Pay rate at $60 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
• Two years early childhood education teaching experience preferred.
• New York State Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2 or equivalent) required.

WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCE:

• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Must pass the background check, medical exams, fingerprinting and other requirements of the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE).
