Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals through person-centered care in a residential setting. The role emphasizes building relationships, daily living support, and advocacy to empower people with identified needs.

Shifts include a mix of weekends and weekdays with opportunities for wage increases after six months of consistent employment. This position offers a path to growth within LSS’s 20+ services and a commitment to dignity

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care and stay connected.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person‑centered care.

Pay:

• $17/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50/hr!

Shifts:

• Sat 8-8, M/T 4-9, F 2-10, M 4-9, T2-9, F 2-10
• S 2-10, S 9am-8pm, W/Th/F 2-9, W/Th/F 2-9

What You’ll Do:
