Job summary

YMCA of Greater San Antonio is seeking a Youth Leader to supervise and support elementary school participants after school. You will guide activities, assist with homework, and ensure a safe, engaging environment in alignment with YMCA policies.

The position requires 6 months of childcare experience, a high school diploma or GED, and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications within 60 days. Typical hours are after school, Monday through Friday, on-site in a community YMCA setting.

Qualifications

• Monday–Friday availability required, generally 2:30pm–6:30pm.
• At least 6 months of childcare experience preferred.
• Fingerprinting check required; fee paid by employer.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Work Study accepted.
• Certifications within 60 days: CPR, First Aid, AED.

Responsibilities

• Supervises arrivals and departures and tracks attendance.
• Supervises children during activities and groups.
• Assists with homework and learning activities.
• Implements daily enrichment activities.
• Oversees safe recreational activities.
• Provides age-appropriate behavioral guidance.
• Maintains cleanliness per YMCA standards.
• Builds partnerships with parents and community.
• Distributes snacks and meals per DFPS regulations.
• Completes required trainings and attends meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Adheres to all YMCA safety procedures.
