Job summary

The City of Rock Island is seeking an After-School Program Van Driver to transport students on scheduled routes and for special excursions, ensuring their safety during loading, unloading, and travel.

Responsibilities include following designated routes and times, conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections, and coordinating with the Afterschool Program Manager. A valid Class D license and a strong driving record are required; occasional shifts after school may apply.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class D driver's license.
• Minimum of three years of driving experience with an excellent driving record.
• Ability to perform safety inspections of the vehicle before trips.
• Ability to follow schedules, routes, and safety regulations.
• Willingness to communicate problems to the program manager.

Responsibilities

• Transporting students on scheduled routes and to/from excursions.
• Provide pick-up in designated areas and ensure student safety during loading/unloading.
• Escort students and act as a role model.
• Adhere to time schedules and program calendar.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle safety inspections.
