Job summary

The Greece Central School District is seeking a Tutor to assist middle school students with homework, organization, and study skills. The role includes helping students prepare for tests, discussing texts to foster a love of reading, and modeling positive behavior within the school community.

All new employees must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment through the NYSED before employment begins. The district values diversity, inclusion, and equity in all policies and programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: Working Permit.
• Desired Qualifications: Maintain 85+ in all classes, maintain positive attendance (arrive to classes on time, stay for whole period, use bathroom passes only when necessary, legal absences).
• Maintain a positive behavioral record.
• Your grades, attendance, and behavior will impact your tutoring status.

Responsibilities

• Help middle school students complete homework and class assignments.
• Assist middle school students with locker, binder, and other types of organization.
• Study and/or create study notes with middle schoolers as they prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes.
• Read and discuss texts with middle schoolers to promote love of reading and reading comprehension.
• Model appropriate and respectful behavior.
• Project a positive attitude about school work, studying, and people within the school community.
• Help keep the tutoring classroom clean and orderly throughout the tutoring sessions.
