Job summary

Hayward Unified School District is seeking Youth Enrichment tutors to reinforce instruction after school, working with individuals or small groups under the Youth Enrichment Site Coordinator. Roles include supervising activities, guiding reading, and assisting with homework in a safe, supportive environment. Some positions require split shifts from 6:00–9:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• 48 semester units of college study or AA Degree required by NCLB guidelines.
• Completion of a NCLB qualifying written examination or equivalent.
• 6 months of experience working with children in education or recreation.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to reinforce school instruction for individuals or small groups after school.
• Assist students with homework and educational projects.
• Observe and manage behavior during activities.
• Monitor drills and assignments across subjects and report progress.
• Support reading and language activities and help with pronunciation.
• Maintain routine records related to students and activities.
• Communicate with district staff and parents about progress and concerns.
• Plan, develop, and implement program educational, recreational and athletic activities.
• Ensure health, safety and a positive learning environment.
