Alper JCC Miami is seeking a patient, engaging Tutor to provide academic support to elementary and middle school students in our After-School Care Program. The role emphasizes meaningful homework help, reinforcing reading, writing and math skills while fostering independence.

Ideal candidates are certified teachers or experienced educators, with the ability to tailor explanations to individual needs. Background screening and program requirements must be met.

Qualifications

• Certified teacher or experienced educator preferred.
• Experience tutoring elementary/middle school students preferred.
• Strong knowledge of reading, writing, and math fundamentals.
• Ability to explain concepts in different ways based on student needs.
• Patient, dependable, encouraging, and comfortable with children.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance and academic support.
• Help students understand assignments and concepts rather than only giving answers.
• Support reading, writing, math, and other core subjects.
• Work individually and in small groups.
• Reinforce positive study habits, organization, and independent learning skills.
• Provide additional academic reinforcement when needed.
• Maintain a patient, encouraging learning environment.
• Collaborate with Aftercare staff for students needing extra support.
