Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center in Bakersfield, CA is seeking fun, dedicated teachers to deliver reading instruction to small groups (up to 3 students) after school and in the summer. You’ll use pre-planned lessons and help students build grammar, comprehension and writing skills.

The role is part-time, with flexible scheduling around your availability, and offers paid training, opportunities for professional development, and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Teaching Credential recommended (required for some subjects)
• You must enjoy teaching, working, and inspiring students. (We want you to be happy here!)
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead instruction in small groups (max 3 students).
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and engage students to build reading, grammar, comprehension and writing skills.
• Maintain flexible scheduling with 2–5 days per week, including after-school, summer and some Saturday mornings.
