Job summary

PowerMyLearning in Los Angeles seeks a seasonal Student Zone Helper to support K-12 students after school at LA Public Library branches. The role requires a 12-hour weekly commitment with 2:30pm–7:00pm shifts, Monday–Thursday; some sites require Spanish language skills. Compensation is $22.50 per hour.

You will assist students with assignments, set up the zone, register participants, and refer complex questions to staff, working with librarians to foster a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with GPA 3.5 (transcript required).
• Must be at least 18 years old due to interactions with minors.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written.
• Spanish fluency preferred at some sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Student Zone during after-school hours.
• Prepare and maintain the Student Zone area and materials.
• Assist K-12 students with completing assignments and refer to resources.
• Answer basic questions and refer complex inquiries to library staff.
• Register participating students for LAPL resources, including library cards.
• Help students use devices and educational apps.
• Maintain attendance records and submit reports.
• Attend mandatory training sessions.
