Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a Before and After School Care Site Lead for Downriver locations. You will supervise and plan activities to support children's social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development across assigned site(s).

The role requires coordinating lesson plans, engaging with school and YMCA staff, and ensuring safety and program quality while following licensing and DHS requirements.

Qualifications

• 2 years in childcare preferred or required
• Credit hours in Elementary Education, Recreation, or Early Childhood (over 19+ years)
• Some supervision experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Attend to the needs of participating children in a safe, nurturing environment
• Communicate with parents via newsletters, calls, and face-to-face contact
• Develop and implement weekly lesson plans with themed activities (CATCH, STEM, literacy)
• Set up and clean learning environments and prepare materials
• Maintain relationships with school and YMCA staff through meetings
• Serve healthy snacks and complete required paperwork
• Know emergency site procedures and record drills
• Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor
