Job summary

KIPP NYC is seeking an After School Director to lead a high-quality middle school after‑school program across the Bronx, Brooklyn, or Manhattan. The role emphasizes academics, enrichment, youth development, and strong family partnerships, with on-site work five days a week.

You will build teams, oversee budgeting and compliance, and collaborate with school leaders and families to foster belonging, achievement, and well‑being in a joyful program culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field is required; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 3–4 years of experience working with school-age children in educational/youth development settings.
• At least one year of supervisory experience in an after-school program or related field.
• Experience developing, managing, and evaluating programs with measurable goals and outcomes.
• Knowledge of DYCD/DOH/OCFS regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a clear vision for after-school programming aligned with KIPP NYC's mission and priorities.
• Provide opportunities for academic growth, enrichment, leadership, and social-emotional learning.
• Evaluate program effectiveness using data, feedback, and outcomes for continuous improvement.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate after-school staff.
• Provide ongoing coaching and professional development to ensure high-quality instruction and engagement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field

Strong project management

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication

Ability to build relationships with school leaders, staff, families, community partners

Supervisory experience in after-school or related settings
