Job Summary
To work with students in a tutorial capacity within various school programs in the Jennings School District.
Essential Functions
- Provides academic assistance in one‑on‑one or group settings in the core content subject areas.
- Maintain accurate records of all students receiving tutorial services.
- Work collaboratively with building administration, teachers, parents/guardians and students.
- Utilizes effective classroom management techniques.
- Establish an effective rapport with students assigned.
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
- Manage student behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal, including presentations.
- Ability to use basic, job related equipment.
- Be self‑motivated.
- Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances and a diverse group of individuals.
- Knowledge of NCLB (No Child Left Behind), FERPA and other federal, state and local guidelines.
- Passionate about improving urban public education and devoted to making a difference.
