PRIMARY FUNCTION: The 21st Century Tutor is responsible for providing after-school tutoring services to support student learning and development, including academic enrichment, mentoring, tutoring, and homework help as required by the 21st Century/LEAP grants.KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):Program Development and ImplementationProvides academic tutoring to studentsDevelops individual, small group, and large group academic lesson plans appropriate for students in the programTeaches and evaluates academic lessonsMaintains contact with each child's classroom teacher, in person, or via telephone or email, to coordinate afterschool lessons with classroom teacher curriculumHelps students develop positive self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic workAssists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areasMaintains records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessments.
