Job summary

Apex-Park-and-Recreation-Distric is seeking an After-School Program Leader to provide a safe, welcoming environment for school-age children. You will supervise, support homework and enrichment activities, and ensure compliance with Colorado licensing and program policies.

Responsibilities include direct supervision, safe activity planning, positive behavior guidance, and collaboration with families. This role requires working mainly in an on-site after-school setting.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively with school-age children
• Complete required background-check and licensing orientation
• Maintain CPR/First Aid and other certifications
• Understand Colorado school-age child care rules and safety requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide active direct supervision of school-age children at all times (safety first)
• Maintain staff-to-child ratios and group sizes
• Follow Colorado licensing rules for School-Age Child Care Centers
• Create a safe, respectful environment for all children
• Greet children and assist with transitions from school to program
• Lead daily activities: homework support, arts and crafts, games, indoor/outdoor play
• Supervise daily snacks per program policies
• Encourage positive peer relationships and behavior
• Communicate respectfully with families and staff
• Monitor attendance and supervise children throughout the day
• Follow emergency, safety, health and incident-reporting procedures
• Assist with maintaining a clean, organized program environment
• Complete required documentation and attend trainings
• Report safety concerns to supervisor
