Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago’s St. Theresa Extended Day Program is seeking a dedicated staff member to supervise students after school, create a welcoming and engaging environment, and support the school’s mission with kindness and safety.

This role requires dependable, attentive, patient, and energetic individuals who collaborate with teachers and families; prior experience with children is preferred, with background checks and training required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to stay calm and patient in an active environment.
• Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must complete background checks and required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision of students at all times.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for students after school.
• Follow school safety procedures and supervision policies.
• Check students in/out and release to authorized individuals.
• Encourage positive, respectful participation in activities.
• Assist with homework and provide a quiet space for study.
• Reinforce school expectations for behavior and care for property.
• Respond calmly to student behavior and follow discipline procedures.
• Monitor transitions, bathroom use, play, and other activities.
• Maintain awareness of student medical and allergy information.
• Communicate incidents promptly to the school administrator.
• Keep accurate attendance and dismissal records.
• Keep spaces clean and ready for daily use; assist with cleanup.
• Communicate professionally with parents during pickup.
