Job summary

SU76-Brooklin School in Brooklin, ME seeks an After School Program Site Coordinator for the 2026-2027 year to provide a safe, engaging program with an academic focus in math and reading.

This role reports to the 21st CCLC Director and is approximately 20 hours per week (2pm-5pm, Mon-Thu) with a starting wage of $31.00 per hour. A Bachelor's degree and experience with elementary-age children are required; Maine teaching certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and follow policies and procedures.
  • Monitor staff and volunteers for proper supervision and adherence to procedures.
  • Ensure an academic focus in reading, writing, and math.
  • Promote tutoring from classroom teachers.
  • Create Individual Success Plans with teachers for each student.
  • Establish behavioral expectations with students and communicate them to parents.
  • Meet regularly with the Project Director to ensure program success.
  • Implement academic and enrichment activities, family education programs.
  • Complete weekly reports and newsletters for Director/Principal.
  • Promote the program in the community.
  • Involve families through events and communications.
  • Communicate with parents about progress and discipline.

REPORTS TO: 21st CCLC Director

JOB GOAL

To provide a safe and welcoming afterschool program that ensures an academic focus in the areas of math and reading/language arts, to facilitate effective tutoring, and to provide ample academic, enrichment, and parent education activities during program hours.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to do appropriate reading, writing, math, reasoning and understanding of policies and procedures and related information, and to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform all necessary duties, including reaching, lifting, eye-hand coordination, sitting, and stooping.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and follow through on the grant work plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff members, including volunteers and club leaders, for proper child supervision, quality of service provision, and adherence to procedures.
  • Ensure an academic focus in reading, writing, and math.
  • Promote effective and frequent tutoring from classroom teachers.
  • Create Individual Success Plans with teachers for each participating student.
  • Establish behavioral expectations with students and communicate them to parents. Work with staff members to enforce student discipline procedures.
  • Meet regularly with the Project Director to ensure success in all aspects of programming.
  • Implement academic mini-courses, tutoring, mentoring, violence and drug prevention programs, cultural and multi-cultural activities, recreation activities, community service projects, and parent/family education programs.
  • Complete the weekly report and send it to the Program Director and building principal by Monday of the following week.
  • Create a monthly newsletter and calendar for approval by the Director at specified dates.
  • Promote the afterschool program in the community.
  • Involve parents, families and community members through special events and newsletters.
  • Speak with parents when they pick up their child to maintain open lines of communication. Share successes and keep parents informed of any disciplinary or attendance problems.
  • Acquire and monitor necessary supplies to conduct the program.
  • Maintain tutor and supply budgets and keep accurate financial records.
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance.
  • Assist program evaluation through the collection of data as requested by the Director.
  • Communicate and work with food service personnel to provide healthy snacks daily.
  • Maintain attendance and snack records for the completion of a monthly snack report.
  • Institute emergency procedures. Have these procedures clearly posted and practice them.
  • Perform any other tasks which fall under the grant as requested by the Director.
  • Employment is based on approximately 20 hours per week. You are expected to be at your site during operating hours which includes the hours of 2pm-5pm Monday through Thursday, with the remaining schedule to be determined by the site coordinator, director and building principal.

  • Follows health and safety procedures established by the district.
  • Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage.
  • Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, integrity and other ethical standards.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and agreement decided on a yearly basis. No expectation of employment beyond the conclusion of the grant. Position starts in September and pays $31.00 per hour.
