Job summary

Onward We Learn in Providence, Rhode Island is seeking a part-time Program Mentor to support students in afterschool and weekend programs. You will build relationships, encourage goal setting, and foster a welcoming environment that helps students succeed in high school and beyond.

As a member of the Programs & Opportunities Team, you will deliver engaging activities, adapt content to student needs, and collaborate with staff to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery while upholding

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of college completed.
• Experience with K-12 education or youth development.
• At least 1 year working with middle/high school students.
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Commitment to Onward We Learn's mission and values.
• Weekend and evening availability as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, consistent relationships with students.
• Create a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment.
• Encourage goal setting, progress recognition, and growth.
• Monitor student engagement and wellbeing with staff.
• Deliver after-school and Saturday programs with engaging activities.
• Prepare materials and learning spaces for smooth program operation.
• Assist with attendance, supervision, and transitions during program hours.
• Collaborate with staff for high-quality program delivery and staff development.
