Job summary

Granite YMCA is seeking a Group Leader to join our School Age Childcare team in New Hampshire. You will oversee a group of children in before/after school programs, delivering high-quality, safe, and engaging activities aligned with YMCA standards.

This role provides leadership experience, collaboration with staff, and opportunities for growth within the YMCA framework while supporting families and youth in our community.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience working with children in childcare, school, or camp settings.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage groups of children in a structured environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily program activities in alignment with YMCA standards and NH licensing.
• Provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for youth.
• Plan developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, and staff; supervise at all times.
• Oversee attendance, headcounts, and behavior management for assigned group.
• Model YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies following YMCA procedures.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and provide program updates.
• Collaborate with Site Director and team to maintain high-quality programming.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with policies.
• Support extended programming including vacations, snow days, and family events.
• Demonstrate flexibility and contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture.
