Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) seeks an EXL Program Instructor to deliver high-quality expanded learning for K–12 youth. You will create safe, inclusive spaces, build meaningful relationships, and collaborate with families, school staff, and teammates to meet diverse student needs.

This part-time, non-exempt role is based at San Rafael City Schools sites with 20–26.5 hours per week. The pay range is $24–$27 per hour, plus a benefits package and 15 paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher or 48 college units completed.
• Criminal background check and TB clearance required.
• Ability to work after school hours and through mid-June.
• Experience with K–12 youth in education, enrichment, or community settings.
• Ability to relate well to youth from diverse backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.
• Desirable: Mandated Reporter certification and related trainings.
• Ability to supervise and engage up to 22 youth independently.
• Proficiency with email, Google Drive, and program management tools.

Purpose: The EXL Program Instructor delivers high-quality expanded learning experiences that support the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of K–12 youth. Grounded in BACR’s values of Compassion, Curiosity, Humility, Integrity, and Joy, this role creates safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued, respected, and connected.

Program Instructors build meaningful relationships with youth, foster a strong sense of belonging, and ensure equitable access to learning and enrichment opportunities for students of all backgrounds, abilities, identities, and experiences. Instructors use culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to support student success while collaborating with families, school staff, and colleagues to meet diverse student needs.

• Pay rate: $24 - $27 an hour, based on regional grant funding and experience

• Hours negotiated upon hiring (20 –26.5 hours per week, depending on location and need)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Associate degree or higher, or 48 college units, or passage of the Instructional Aide exam.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB clearance.

• Ability to work during after-school hours and commit through the academic school year (hire date through mid-June).

• Experience working with K–12 youth in educational, enrichment, or community-based settings.

• Ability to build positive relationships with youth from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

• Ability to complete Mandated Reporter certification and other required trainings.

• Ability to independently supervise and engage up to 22 youth.

• Basic proficiency with email, Google Drive, and other program management platforms.

Preferred

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.

• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Chinese, or other languages).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required

• Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and move throughout the program space for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to actively supervise and accompany students during indoor and outdoor activities.
