Job summary

Howard County Recreation and Parks is seeking an energetic, positive and motivated director for the 2026-27 school year to lead Bushy Park Elementary Recreation Licensed Child Care and Rockburn Elementary programs in Columbia, MD.

Responsibilities include planning a well-rounded program, supervising 4–8 site staff, ensuring OCC licensing compliance, coordinating activities, snacks, homework help, and maintaining a safe environment for children aged 5–10, with morning and afternoon shifts.

Qualifications

Must supply: High school diploma, unofficial college transcript and/or childcare course certificates.
A minimum age of 21.
135-hour childcare certification (split across categories).
400 hours supervising school-aged children.
Basic Health and Safety (BHS) and related trainings (Medication Administration, Emergency Preparedness, ADA).

Responsibilities

Plan and implement a well-rounded program in accordance with OCC licensing regulations.
Supervise 4–8 site staff and maintain a safe, positive environment for children ages 5–10.
Lead and supervise program staff to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
Coordinate activities across sports, arts, science, cooking, homework help, and daily routines.
