Job description

What You’ll Do

Want a job where you actually make a difference?

As a BrightBee After School Program Associate, you’ll support students in local schools—helping them learn, grow, and succeed.

Your day kicks off by welcoming students into a safe, supportive space after school. You’ll help them settle in, supervise activities, and offer a hand with homework when needed. Whether you’re leading a fun group activity, lending a listening ear to a student who needs support, or making sure everyone follows program rules, you’re creating a positive environment where kids can thrive. You’ll also stay in touch with parents and teachers, keep accurate attendance and behavior records, and make each afternoon count for the students in your care.

During your interview we will go into detail about what assignments are available at these sites. The more sites and assignment types you are open to working, the more your earning potential is.

Flexible Work That Fits Your Life
  • Work 2–5 days per week
  • After school shifts (1:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
  • Pick up assignments that match your schedule
  • Great as a side hustle or consistent weekly income

If you want flexible work AND meaningful impact—this is it.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design and lead engaging group activities, ranging from structured physical education and team‑building games to creative arts and STEM projects. You will be responsible for keeping students motivated, ensuring high participation, and adapting activities to suit different age groups and energy levels.
  • Provide dedicated homework assistance and small‑group tutoring. You will help students understand core concepts, practice study skills, and complete assignments, ensuring that the after‑school hours are a productive extension of the classroom.
  • Maintain active supervision of students during transitions, snack time, and recreational periods. You will implement positive behavior management strategies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, adhering to all program safety protocols and check‑out procedures.
  • Assist with daily operations, including taking attendance, preparing activity materials, and maintaining a clean environment. You will also serve as a point of contact for parents during pick‑up, providing brief, professional updates on student progress or behavior.
Who This Is Perfect For
  • You enjoy working with kids or teens
  • You’re patient, reliable, and positive
  • You want to build experience in education
  • You’re looking for flexible and/or consistent work (several of our single day assignments convert to long‑term opportunities)

No experience? No problem. We’ll help you get started.

Basic Requirements
  • 48 college credits
  • RBT experience a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Before You Start

To keep students safe, you’ll need to:

  • Pass a background check
  • Follow safety and reporting guidelines
  • Complete required school clearances which you are responsible for paying.
    • Costs associated with the clearance process are the sole responsibility of the candidate, as this engagement is for an independent contractor role rather than a traditional employment position. Requirements vary by state but may include the cost of a background check, obtaining a copy of any college transcript you have, and the cost of completing Mandated Reporter training. The average cost of completing clearance in California for instructional roles is between $203-$218.

Don’t stress—we guide you through every step.
