Job summary

Portland Jewish Academy’s PJA Afterschool program is seeking an Inclusion and Behavior Support Specialist to provide on-site support to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs at the SW Portland site.

The role focuses on individualized support, collaboration with staff, and implementing inclusive practices while maintaining documentation and engaging families. This is a part-time, on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with children/youth in educational, recreational, or support settings.
• Knowledge of inclusive practices and behavior support strategies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Enrolled in Central Background Registry.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional needs.
• Understand state licensing regulations, restrictions and requirements.
• Collaborate with program staff to implement inclusive strategies and accommodations.
• Develop and adapt activities to ensure accessibility for all participants.
• Support positive behavior interventions and conflict resolution.
• Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and external partners as needed.
• Maintain documentation related to student support plans and progress.
• Participate in staff training and contribute to ongoing program development.
