Job summary

The Brooklyn College Community Partnership (BCCP), operating under RFCUNY, seeks part-time Group Leaders for its COMPASS middle school program. You will model positive behavior, lead activity groups, and support youth development under supervision.

Strong communication and a commitment to equity are essential, with duties including supervision, reporting incidents, and attending ongoing trainings. Hours are 2–6 PM, Monday–Friday (up to 18 hours per week) at Brooklyn College.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; current college undergraduates or higher are preferred.
• Must be 18 years or older, with at least 2 years of direct experience working with children under 13 years, preferably in a school setting or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of the NYC DOE Public School system.
• Commitment to equity and to implementing culturally responsive teaching practices.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong interest in community work and youth development.
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate structured, creative activities that promote youth social, emotional, and physical well-being.
• Supervise and engage middle school participants in a safe, welcoming environment.
• Model positive behavior and effective management to guide students in confidence, respect, and responsibility.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team.
• Respond to incidents promptly, ensuring student safety and professionalism.
• Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings.
• Attend weekly check-ins with the supervisor and participate in development activities.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.
• Document participants’ work for program events and Artsfest.
• Comply with NYC DOE, DOHMH, DYCD, and NYS SACC regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
