Job summary

NIA's after-school program in New York is seeking Group Leaders to supervise a group of participants in a school-based setting. You will guide students through daily routines, oversee arrivals, snacks, transitions, activities, and dismissal, while modeling positive youth development per COMPASS models.

You will collaborate with Activity Specialists and Teachers, ensure licensing compliance, and complete required mental health training, fostering a safe, welcoming environment for all children.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with at least 2 years of direct experience with children.
• Associate's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive care and supervision to assigned group of students during arrivals, snack, transitions, activities, and dismissal.
• Lead activities and support participants with individual learning and behavioral needs.
• Ensure safety and supervision per licensor regulations and DOH/licensing mandates.
• Take attendance, manage sign-out, and ensure proper release to approved adults.
• Collaborate with Activity Specialists, Teachers, and Youth Workers to deliver lessons and maintain clean spaces.
• Complete required Mental Health training and follow crisis management protocols.
