Job summary

Patrick County Public Schools' Patrick Springs Primary in Patrick Springs, Virginia is seeking a Group Leader for After-School Care to provide direct supervision and care for students in the district’s after-school program until 6:00pm.

The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment, coordinating academic support, enrichment, and recreation, and collaborating with staff, families, and the After-School Childcare Coordinator to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children in school, childcare, or community settings preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification current or willingness to obtain.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan age-appropriate activities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of students in the after-school program.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, respectful environment.
• Follow established schedules and procedures for the program.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance and monitor students.
• Ensure students are released only to authorized individuals.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate academic, enrichment, recreational, and social activities.
• Use positive behavior management consistent with policies.
• Communicate concerns to the Coordinator or school personnel.
• Keep program areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Communicate with parents professionally about routine needs.
• Participate in required training and development.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid certification as required.
• Follow all district policies and safety requirements.
