Job summary

Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) seeks a Group Leader at PS 97 in Brooklyn to support elementary students with structured, engaging activities during after-school hours.

The role involves planning lessons aligned with standards, supervising groups, documenting attendance, and collaborating with teachers and CPC leadership. This temporary, part-time position offers a competitive hourly wage and supportive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with elementary-aged children in a structured educational, recreational, or youth development setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and aligned to Common Core Standards.
  • Facilitate daily activities in core subjects and enrichment areas.
  • Maintain active supervision of children at all times; respond to behavioral concerns and medical needs.
  • Document student attendance, behavior incidents, and observations in CPC records.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture reflecting CPC's values and supporting youth development.
  • Collaborate with program peers, site staff, and CPC leadership.
  • Ensure classrooms are organized and stocked with materials.
  • Attend trainings and meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
