Job summary

Shady Side Academy seeks an After School Explorers Nurse for the Junior School in Pittsburgh, PA. The role supports health services during ASE, in-service days and break camps with 75–125 students daily.

Responsibilities include tending to sick or injured children, keeping medical logs, administering medications, and teaching health topics. Requires PA RN/LPN license, CPR, and clearances; 3–5 years pediatric/acute care preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a PA license – RN or LPN and CPR certification.
• Act 33/34 clearances required.
• Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of pediatric or acute care nursing.
• Positive bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend to sick and injured children and advise parents on illnesses and injuries.
• Maintain daily medical log describing symptoms and treatments.
• Administer medications and treatments as requested by families.
• Order supplies as needed and maintain records.
• Teach health-related topics to students when appropriate.
• Provide CPR and other medical training to after school staff.
• Review medical forms for permission and medications during school hours.
• Serve as first responder in emergencies and provide first aid.
• Maintain up-to-date emergency information and confidential records.
• Coordinate with school health team and ASE staff on health concerns.
