Job summary

Pax Christi Academies is seeking an Extended/After School Care staff to supervise children after school hours, supporting academic and social development within our Catholic elementary school communities in the Diocese of Orange. Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with homework, organizing enrichment activities, maintaining attendance records, and communicating with parents.

A high school diploma is required with school/childcare experience preferred, and a positive,

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college coursework in education preferred.
• Experience with elementary-aged children in school or childcare settings desired.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with teamwork and problem-solving.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Safety: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Extended Day program; supervise children during extended hours.
• Academic Support: Help with homework, reading, and other academic activities; reinforce program rules and procedures.
• Activities & Enrichment: Organize games, crafts, and other activities to promote learning and social skills.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain attendance records, sign-in/sign-out sheets, and program logs.
• Environment & Hygiene: Keep the facility clean and safe; provide hygiene assistance when needed.
• Parent Communication: Build positive relationships with parents and communicate program updates.
• Behavior Management: Monitor and guide student behavior to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or supervising teacher.
