Job summary

East Side House Settlement invites applications for Youth Educator for the 2026–2027 school year in the COMPASS Elementary program. Based at Mitchel Community Center, 210 Alexander Ave, Bronx, NY, the role focuses on after-school enrichment in STEM, literacy and storytelling, SEL, yoga wellness, and sensory activities.

The educator develops engaging, age-appropriate lessons for grades K–5 and fosters an inclusive, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working with elementary-aged youth in after-school or related settings is required.
• Ability to develop engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and enrichment activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, supervision, well-being, and engagement of participants.
• Develop and facilitate structured, age-appropriate lessons across STEM, visual arts, literacy, SEL, wellness, mindfulness, movement, or sensory activities.
• Adapt activities for varied abilities and learning styles.
• Maintain positive youth development through mentorship, teamwork, and relationship-building.
• Collaborate with staff, families, and partners to support student participation and needs.
• Complete required documentation and attend trainings and staff meetings.
