Job summary

The City of Lake Forest is seeking an After School Enrichment Coordinator – Rec Instructor for a part-time role in the Parks & Recreation Department. You will develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, teach daily activities, and support program operations in a safe, welcoming after-school setting.

Responsibilities include leading activities, coordinating materials and staff, communicating with families, and assisting with School Days Off programming.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children is required; experience in classroom, enrichment, recreation, camp, or after school setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of child development, age-appropriate activities, and positive behavior guidance.
• Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and provide direction and support to program staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors.
• Ability to maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized program environment.

• Serve as a liaison with building leadership staff to help ensure program space is secured and ready for use.
• Model and enforce applicable rules, policies, safety expectations, and behavior standards.
• Produce a monthly newsletter to share program updates and information with families.
• May assist with City, department, and community special events as needed.

This part-time role is responsible for developing curriculum, preparing lesson plans, teaching daily activities, supporting program operations, and helping create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for participants. The After School Enrichment Coordinator also supports supplemental programming, including School Days Off enrichment opportunities.
