Job summary

Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Downtown Boise is seeking an After School Teacher to join the Kids program. The role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment that supports child development and family needs. You will work with a teaching team to promote growth, belonging, and readiness for school milestones.

The position is part-time (10–15 hours weekly) from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, with at least two days per week. Hourly pay ranges from $15.45 to $19.31.

Qualifications

Must be 16 years or older.
Minimum 1 year of experience with children preferred.
Strong conversational skills and ability to make all people feel welcome.
Ability to stay calm and act quickly in safety emergencies.

Responsibilities

Create an environment that fosters safety through active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
Implement the established curriculum.
Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s appropriate development and behavior.
Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following leading practices.
Use core values and developmentally appropriate practices to support each child’s background and learning styles.
Maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is well equipped, safe, and welcoming.
