Job summary

Melwood is seeking a part-time program assistant to support teachers with after-school activities, Career Exploration, and homework help, ensuring student engagement and safety. You will supervise students from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Friday sessions, and collaborate with staff to enhance learning.

Regular family communication and attendance/ETO tasks are part of the role. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, some college coursework in

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Some college coursework in education or related field is desirable.
• Experience working with children in educational settings is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with activities including Career Exploration, homework support, and snack-time supervision.
• Lead small group sessions and tailor instruction to individual needs across core subjects.
• Collaborate with PD, teachers, and staff to design and implement engaging educational activities; attend pre-student arrival meetings.
• Foster a positive, safe learning environment; supervise students during program hours and apply positive behavioral interventions as needed.
• Maintain a structured daily schedule in collaboration with staff; communicate progress and concerns to parents/guardians.
• Attend staff meetings and PD; assist with attendance, record-keeping, and preparing program materials in the ETO system.
