Job summary

Summit Therapy (Texas) in Plano/McKinney is seeking a Dyslexia/Reading Specialist for after-school, part-time tutoring. You will provide individualized reading instruction and support foundational literacy skills for elementary and middle school students, collaborating with therapists as needed.

The role emphasizes a warm, patient, and dependable tutor who can adapt to each child’s learning style and build confidence in reading.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, English, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field.
• Experience providing reading instruction or literacy intervention.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children.
• Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction.
• Experience with learners who have reading differences is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized reading instruction to elementary and middle school students.
• Support foundational literacy skills: phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, sight words, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling/written language.
• Identify strengths and areas needing support; adapt instruction to each student’s learning style and goals.
• Use engaging, age-appropriate activities and evidence-based strategies; track progress and communicate with parents.
• Collaborate with speech-language pathologists and other professionals when appropriate.
