Job summary

Summit Speech Therapy seeks a warm, knowledgeable Reading Tutor for after-school sessions in Plano and McKinney, TX. This part-time role focuses on individualized reading support to strengthen skills and confidence in elementary and/or middle school students.

The position emphasizes evidence-based literacy instruction, collaboration with therapists, and flexible weekday hours. Ideal for educators with literacy teaching experience who enjoy one-on-one work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, English, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.
• Experience providing reading instruction, literacy intervention, or tutoring.
• Experience with elementary-aged children.
• Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction.
• Experience with learning differences and dyslexia is a plus.
• Teaching certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized reading instruction to elementary and/or middle school students.
• Support foundational literacy skills: phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, sight words, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling.
• Identify strengths and areas needing support; adapt instruction to learner.
• Use engaging activities and evidence-based strategies; track progress.
• Communicate with parents/caregivers; collaborate with therapists when appropriate.
• Maintain brief, accurate session documentation; create a positive learning environment.
